It's been a good lesson in patience, because after just the first few days, Daddy didn't think they were going to grow at all. Then, on day 5, they started popping through the soil! Now they are getting big and most of them dropped their shell. I can't wait until they bloom. Mommy says she'll send pictures. Thanks for the whole Fruit of the Spirit curriculum. Mommy helped me to make a b-day/thank you/praying for you card for a daughter of one of Mommy's top 5. I'm hoping to meet her and have a play date. She's 2, so she's a little bit older, but I'm a little bit bigger:) I am looking foward to the next fruit and more lemony love ideas in the mean time. Thank you Ms. Lisa. I love PWV! When we repeated that question or asked him how to show love, he gave his sly smile and said, "I choose to love you." Long story short...that's all he would say. Now you have to realize that he says "I choose to love you" several times throughout the day, every day. This is a result of our discussion with our kids after one of Bruce's sermons. The message was to let your kids know you love them, tell them why you love them, and that no matter what you'll always love them. I guess this just shows us we need to start teaching him what love means.Carson's momnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6868057649287311552.post-8906453227101694262009-07-07T12:05:24.887-05:002009-07-07T12:05:24.887-05:00i had a similar experience volunteering at a local...i had a similar experience volunteering at a local organization. so frustrating! very important to make people feel needed or why bother asking for people to serve?? it's always good to have these sort of experiences as they make you more aware and appreciative!TGhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09741726726007067230noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6868057649287311552.post-65597962610186303672009-07-01T20:52:18.364-05:002009-07-01T20:52:18.364-05:00Thank you Lisa for the reminders. But when we look at things (regardless of how ackward/uncomfortable they are) through the people/children-we-are -helping's eyes all those feelings will disappear.

I know I've been bitten with the "why bother" bug in some volunteering jobs but when I have kids/people RUN to hug me--I know I'm important and loved.

I know the children you helped were forever touched by your love and generousity.Traciehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12554273080133374205noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6868057649287311552.post-67521324740826598242009-06-10T10:20:35.964-05:002009-06-10T10:20:35.964-05:00Excellent advice! I'm sorry to hear about you...Excellent advice! I'm sorry to hear about your friends.

I definitely recommend the book, The Power of a Praying Wife. I was given a copy when I ordered my wedding cake but never read it until my marriage was strained. I definitely saw a difference in my marriage after I started reading it. It helped understand the importance of praying for my hubby and it help teach me how.

But my biggest piece of advice, is for couples to spend time together and make each other a priority. We all put other things (kids, chores, work) before our spouses and that can hurt a marriage. I know I had to change my focus from Mommy to Wife. My son has 2 parents to care for him, but my husband only has 1 wife--so I need to take that role seriously.

I just recently had to re-adjust my schedule and priorities in order to make everyone feel loved in my house. No working at home after work. No computer until after dinner. No outside commitments (even church stuff) unless it's agreed upon by hubby and I.

Another thing we do (at least once a week) is have a family fun day where we do something as a family (no outside distractions, i.e. computers, blackberry, books, etc). We play, we create, we cook, but more importantly, we talk.

My marriage hasn't always been easy but I know God gives us marriage counseling when we need it.Traciehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12554273080133374205noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6868057649287311552.post-63285057975524710482009-04-16T12:19:00.000-05:002009-04-16T12:19:00.000-05:00I don't have any personal stories to share, but I ...I don't have any personal stories to share, but I will say what a huge blessing it was to hear so many of the Pre-K class understand the story.

Many knew the story of the cross and would tell us about it before the teachers would even begin to teach the message. And that's okay, but there are times when I wish my husband took more of an interest in our family fun days. But he and Seth do have their special time when I'm not involved. They both love music and playing the guitar. Andy tries to teach him but most of the time, Seth picks up the haronica or the microphone instead. I love peeking in on their jam sessions. Andy has also taken to letting Seth "help" build things. His father never really let him help on building projects, so I know this is something new to him. Their newest father and son time is a trip to Home Depot.

I'm grateful for the time they spend together and I'm proud of the father my husband is.Traciehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12554273080133374205noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6868057649287311552.post-35620987987954043402009-01-22T10:40:00.000-06:002009-01-22T10:40:00.000-06:00Just found this blog... thank you, Lisa, for doing...Just found this blog... thank you, Lisa, for doing it! Today at the Clear Springs celebration, it was CRRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAZY with all the Little Guys in the service! AGH! It was a nice thought to have a Family Service, but I ran back & forth into & out of the lobby with my 1-yr-old. (This was after hubby was watching him in the back of the auditorium, and he was crawling up & down the very small steps & fell & hit his head, then crying so everyone could hear!) So please forward my thank you to all the dedicated workers who show up Sunday after Sunday to watch the Little People in my life while I worship. I am confident this will be a WONDERFUL year.

I have been reluctant to make my yard stick but I've finally decided that my actual yard stick for S. if quite easy. All I'd like for my son in his life is that he finds out what God's plan for him is and he lives it. Sure I want him to be a good Christian man...be honest, loving, etc. But when it all comes down to it, all I really care is that he follows God's plan for himself.

Following God's plan is really kinda hard because we spend our whole lives trying to decipher what God's plan for us is.

I think my yard stick for S. changes as I grow in my faith, but one thing that I know will remain constant is my wish for him to be a TRUE christian (walking the walk, talking the talk). I pray that he discovers what being a true Christian is early in life.

God has big plans for us in 2009. I am SO exicted to fufill his plan.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
